Book Review: Melting Into You by Laura Trentham

Alec Grayson returns home to Falcon, Alabama, to rebuild his life after a knee injury ended his NFL career. As the Falcon high school quarterback coach, Alec's love for the game is reignited. Meanwhile, he puts his hard-partying past and the betrayal of the people he trusted most behind him, and adopts a hard demeanor. That is, until a spitfire artist with soulful eyes and a body that haunts his dreams gets under his skin and threatens to crack his armor.

Lilliana Hancock is forced to leave her struggling-artist lifestyle in New York and return to Falcon after her father's unexpected death leaves her a decrepit family mansion. Determined to use her skills to turn the home into a successful bed and breakfast, Lilliana is stopped at every turn by the town contractor, who happens to be Alec, the gorgeous and arrogant jock to whom she lost her virginity in college. Except Alec doesn't remember, which infuriates her. Too bad she can't forget the way his body felt against hers or how his heated gaze follows her...

Will they be able to put their pasts behind them for a future together?

We've been getting teased about this couple since the last book so I was definitely looking forward to their love story. Especially the way the last book ended with Lilliana running away when Alec showed up at her friends house.

Alec really has such a good heart, he's just ended up on the recluse, loner side of life since his injury and separation from his parents that it's hard for him to trust when he has a good thing or is doing the right thing. I really loved seeing him get involved in the quarterbacks home life and try to make things easier for him.

Lilliana is a creative soul and boy can she hold a grudge. It's a good thing she's willing to forgive and forget in the scheme of the bigger picture because I really enjoyed how their romance began. They had their set backs, but they've both liked each other for a long time and that's not something you know until you get into Melting Into You.

This definitely came out in the heart of football season, and fits right in with all of the homecomings and other football related activites being hosted throughout the US this time of year that it really got me excited for a hometown football game.

While this wasn't my favorite Falcon football book, it definitely hit the spot in all things romance, football and small town life. I don't see any other books scheduled in the Falcon Football series, so this was definitely a good ending to the series.
