Reflections and Ramblings

Last night I took melatonin because for the third night in a row I could not fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I cannot seem to shut my mind off when I lay down for the night and it's seriously getting annoying.

Should I start counting sheep?

I know I'm not the only one that this happens to and I'm glad it's not all the time.

When I think about the things I have, need, want to do I just get so overwhelmed that I've been choosing to bury myself in a book, someone else's reality. That's one of my favorite things about books, I can forget about and ignore what's going on in my life. Not that anything is bad, just escaping the everyday.

So, with that being said I've started a spreadsheet listing all of the things I need, want, have to do that way I can prioritize them and change them around.

How do you go about getting the things done in your life?

I've also started the processing of house hunting and/or looking for apartments. As much as I would love to live closer to work, I value two things more and that is safety and looks. Wherever I live has to look nice and be in a safe area. I'm a suburb girl. Not to say that bad things don't happen where I live now, I just feel safer.

I've really been wanting to do a haul video/post about the things I've purchased online since January Spending freeze was over and then I order ONE more thing and want to wait to include that. OMG it's getting ridiculous, lol.

I've been blogging for two years and a couple of the "things you should do when you post" baffle me.

Why must there be a picture? Who and when decided that was a thing? I remember when that wasn't necessary, and I've been trying NOT to stick to that "rule".

Ya'll know I'm not one to make a Pinterest post, most of my stuff is NOT. IDK where that thought was going. Maybe it's because I feel like some people ONLY blog like that and it kind of amazes me. That's just not how I think or what I want to talk about MOST of the time unless it's makeup then I'm all over that.

Speaking of...does anybody have a eye makeup remover they rec like gold? I need to find one since I've been wearing eye stuff.

Also, one of the things I really like about the Youtube thing is you don't really have to be consistent from what I can tell. Sure, as long as you're posting once every week or two and it's stuff people are interested in that's cool but where did this blogging almost everyday thing come from? In the book world they blog multiple times a day for each book post.

I have a lot of things I want to do this weekend so I think I'm going to put myself on a book ban unless I get them all done. Have you ever done something like that?

This is more of a confession emailpost, and ramblings all rolled into one.

I hope you have a great Thursday and I've been putting my Friday Favs post together so I'm excited for that...and the weekend, duh!

  1. i like pictures in my post just because it breaks it up, and otherwise i would write for like 5 pages haha. but i don't think its a necessity at all and i still read posts without pictures!
i am jealous that you ever fall asleep when your head hits the pillow - it takes me half an hour - an hour every single night, ever since i can remember. i have never fallen asleep easily. i normally 'day dream' at night though, it helps put me to sleep. if i start thinking about real life, aka things i need to do or want, it keeps me up. so fake life helps, haha. and i feel the same about books - there is nothing wrong with my life but it's nice to live someone elses life for awhile!

  2. I love spreadsheets! I do those for our budgeting, otherwise I just write to do lists everywhere, but mostly in my planner. My favorite eye makeup remover is this Neutrogena one! http://www.neutrogena.com/product/oil-free+eye+makeup+remover.do
Works really well and it's cheap! I get it at Target and I have also ordered it from Drugstore.com.

  3. I need to put myself on a book reading ban but I have so many I need to catch up on so I don't feel overwhelmed. I don't know where the whole blogging everyday thing came, but no thank you. I need a break to catch up. For eye makeup remover I swear by the Body Shop Camomile Gentle Remover. Works well, gentle and lasts a long time.

  4. 1. Not being able to fall asleep is one of the worst feelings in the world, but I'm with you on reading sometimes being the only thing that works! 2. The Lancome eye makeup remover is AMAZING, it's also amazingly expensive, but it's like magic when you use it. 3. I'm reading a really good book and I had to ban myself from reading it this morning first thing because I knew it would eat up too much of my time, so I can kind of relate to how you're feeling about the weekend.

  5. The same things happen to me at night sometimes when i have a lot on my mind and it drives me nuts. Maybe I should try Melontonin. The eye makeup remove I swear by is by BodyShop and I've been using it for over 10 year. It's very gentle, non-greasy and most importantly, works really well to get mascara and eyeliner off with irritating. http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/skin-care/face-wash/camomile-gentle-eye-makeup-remover.aspx

  6. That's one of the reasons I love books too. I love to dive into books and putting my mind in a different place and time. It almost feels real.

The eye makeup remover that I LOVE is the Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover. It's the only one I've used for years. Works great and you know I love me some eye makeup! lol

  7. I like The Body Shop's chamomile eye makeup remover a lot.

I detest how to blog posts. A lot. I've stopped reading them for the most part even when one of my favorites does them.

I keep a running life list for my big items (some small too), a weekly to do and then I do seasonal goals. I also clean off of a spreadsheet so that helps with a lot of the chore/errand stuff because both are on there.

  8. I really like lancomes makeup remover and I know it's a little pricier but it's the best stuff...the second closest I've found is the sephora brand and you get a lot for what you pay for!! When I was getting married two years ago I couldn't sleep...at all so I started taking melatonin and it really did help! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  9. I would love to see your haul video! I really need some new spring clothes badly. I haven't really seen anything that I like though. First world problems!

I dont understand the want for every post to be pin worthy. That really isn't the point of blogging...ya know!? Sure I love to look at pretty pictures, but I am also there for content and what the person has to say. So if there is a post with no pictures...I dont really notice until they say sorry..no pictures. Then I am like why apologize? It's your blog you do what you want!!!

I used Neutrogena eye make up remover. I have tried more expensive ones but they really aren't that much better. The only expensive one that I really liked was Lancome...but I just cant bring myself to pay that each time!

  10. Here's to not being Pinterest-worthy bloggers!

  11. The rules of blogging confuse me and as a relatively new blogger they seem to constantly be changing too. I only add pictures because I'm a rambler and otherwise that's just a lot of text. The YouTube world is something I've considered too because it does seem a lot more random.

  12. I have the worst sleep problems, so I'm definitely not your girl.... but I feel you. The Day Designer has really helped me prioritize my days this year AND feel like I get things accomplished. I have the best intentions for my blogging, but I often fall short - meh - it works out. ;)

  13. Don't laugh, but I've been using Vaseline to remove eye make-up since I was wearing it in dance recitals as a little girl. That's still my make-up remover. Then, I wash and moisturize with Oil of Olay stuff...but to remove, I stand by Vaseline. Cheap and effective.

  14. I think the pictures break up a post. I still read those without pictures tho so its not big deal to me. I think Im with you on house hunting. Im a bit picky and it MUST be safe and look good. That isn't being demanding thats being safe. I sleep easily but I also sleep pretty late every night ... like really late ... middle of the night late. So I hope your sleep patterns get better than mine.
