MY DREAM JOB - #BLOGTOBER14 DAY 2

Even though I didn't participate in the prompt yesterday, I have been thinking about each of the prompts given by Helene and Tay. I mean when asked what you'll do with the winning lotto money, I had more questions than answers. Like how much money are we really talking about here and did I win it with my coworkers or all by myself? I should apologize in advance for the lack of pics in this especially since it's a throwback Thursday kind of post. I'll look into adding some in tonight when I get home.

As for today, I think everyone had multiple dream jobs as a child or at least I did. It changed depending on how successful I was at a certain thing, I think. When I was scouted at a music concert in 8th grade, I definitely thought I would be a singer. When I volunteered at the lower elementary school, I thought I would be a teacher. When I starred in multiple theater productions I thought I was destined to be an actress and when I was head cheerleader well I would definitely make it all the way to the pros.

As I actually tried some of these things in college I found out multiple things. I wasn't really fond of children, and you have to take a lot of tests as a teacher so that was out. I was a fat cheerleader in high school and while that was okay in my small town that wouldn't cut it in the pros. I was too young to persue a career in music at 13 and needed / wanted to finish out school like a normal kid. I finally found something I was good at and could major in at college - Graphic Design.

Still to this day, design is something I dream of doing but not as a typical designer. I worked at a design studio in college and while I loved the place I worked I also saw how competitive some of it was and that's definitely not me. I don't need my name printed in a book or magazine because it already is from working there. I just want to be making stuff for people that appreciate my skills and are willing to pay me to do it.

I launched HEA Ink Designs in the last couple weeks. Things have just kind of happened and when I made my 30 Before 30 list I didn't even have this on the horizon so I have a feeling something is going to be taking a back burner *cough* publishing a short story *cough*. Although, I have yet to do a book cover, so I'm anxiously waiting to see if I'll ever get that opportunity. All of the authors I know are publishing traditionally and don't need them from me. I may have to publish something just so I can do a book cover!

What's your dream job?

  1. WOW, congrats to you for launching your shop, that's amazing. I'm incredibly untalented when it comes to graphic design, no skill for it whatsoever, so I'm uber jealous of those that can 'paint on a computer screen'. Good luck with your shop!
