Five on Friday - I'm A Slacker

Hi Friends!!!!

If you've been wondering where I've been - I've been preparing for Book Bash this weekend and after a few more hours at work I'll be headed to Orlando and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

I've also developed an obsession with Sons of Anarchy and spending whatever time I can binge watching that on Netflix, lol.

I mean, how can I NOT want to watch with Charlie Hunnan?!

After Book Bash I won't feel rushed to read and can hopefully get back in my blogging groove.

You should check out my Friday Five over on Steph's blog where I'm talking about my favorite Florida things!!!

Watch Instagram this weekend for all kinds of awesome Book Bash pics and you know...authors!!

Freakin' Weekend Alone in the Old House

Happy Monday Night!

Today was national pink day and I totally missed it. My attire instead of being awesome was 3 shades of grey. Drab!

I'm finally feeling a little more rested after last weekend and I had a great non-committed weekend with friends...BUT I'm still sick and that's never fun!

Did you see I surpassed my reading goal and we're only half way through the year...over achiever I am.

I started on my shorts project Sunday after trying to find the red + white striped material and blue with white stars. Of course the last place I checked, Hobby Lobby was the one to have it. Anyway, I can see why they cost so much now, I spent about one full episode of the Sons of Anarchy taking the "little blue strings" out of the shorts!

Yes, I started Sons of Anarchy and one of the reasons this is late is because I watched the entire first season!

So, here are the shorts...

Thanks for ignoring my chubby legs and the string on my shirt :)

This sickness is kicking my behind! I left work early today because I just could not keep my head in the game and it felt like it was going to explode. I don't know why I feel fine in the morning...well, not fine but better in the morning. I'm not one that usually gets sick so I apologize for the wining.

I got my business cards in!! Tried to spray paint the edges and must have been too thick or close at the top as there was enough of a bleed to make me sad.

Another thing I finished this weekend was the wooden bunny for my sister. I had shared a pic on Instagram before Easter when dad cut them out for me and since I'm like Queen Procrastinator I finished painting it the night before my parents left to go see her, lol.

Finally, the other cool thing about this weekend was I finally got to see the movie The Fault in Our Stars and I thought they did such a great job keeping with the book that I loved. The one part I remember being different was a great addition and that parts I really wanted to see weren't so bad to be missed.

Am I the only person that dips their popcorn in butter? I really need to remember that I can't eat an entire bag of popcorn by myself...let alone a LARGE bag. *shakes head*

How was your weekend?!

Five Favs on Friday

Happy Friday! Oh how I love it when the weekend rolls around. Even though I'm battling some sort of sore throat drainage thing and have nothing concrete planned I'm so excited for this weekend!

Let's get our favorite things on for this Friday Five!

1. Fav Song

If you saw my Day Drinking recipe yesterday, you've hopefully already listened to this song but I had to mention it again because I'm LOVING it!!

2. Fav Discovery

OMG I have been waiting for the PERFECT pink purse to come out from Coach for about 4 years, which is crazy but that's how picky I am most of the time! Anyway, we were shopping for a cowboy hat - another thing I'm being picky about when we were walking out of a store in the mall and I saw it. The pink I had been looking for! S asked me if I was more excited about the concert or finding that purse; the concert of course but I can't tell you how good it felt to finally have the purse I've been searching for that long!

3. Fav Recipes I Want to Try

I'd like to try both of these with Spaghetti Squash in the next few weeks!
Dreamy Mac-n-Cheese Spaghetti Squash
Pasta with Zucchini, Tomatoes and Creamy Lemon-Yogurt Sauce

I would post pics, but one pic is far worse than the other so I'll just let you click on them if you want to see.

4. Fav Book Series

The Marked Men Series by Jay Crownover - I'm on the last published book, Nash and barely just started it but I really love these broken and tortured, tattooed sexy men! The next book, Rowdy comes out in October and I'm not looking forward to having to wait, lol.

5. Fav DIY

At the concert this past weekend there were A LOT of girls wearing patriotic stuff so it really got me thinking about my 4th of July outfit, duh! I think I want to try and make jean shorts with flag pockets, distressed. Then I remember I have SO MUCH to do before next weekend I shouldn't be thinking about what happens in two weeks just yet, lol!

What are some of your favs from this week?!

Mason Jar Lemonade aka Day Drinking

Happy Thursday ya'll!!

My mom introduced me to this little concoction after I got back from Florida Country Superfest this weekend and we're loving it!

It's the perfect Summer drink and with a little bit of flovored vodka or a splash of rum; would make the perfect afternoon cocktail for a lazy day by the pool. You only need THREE ingredients, and it is so easy to make double to fill up a pitcher for a party!

Mason Jar Lemonade

1/2 C. Fresh Lemon Juice
1/3 C. Agave or other liquid sweetener
2-3 C. Water

Mix lemon juice and Agave in pitcher. Add water and ice to serve.

Makes 1 Qt. + 1 Pt. Mason Jars or double for party pitcher!

I would suggest you check out Little Big Town's new song Day Drinking while you're getting your drink on -

What's your favorite everyday drink to add some liquor to?

This recipe was found on store info card.

Freakin' Weekend at the Florida Country Superfest

I confess that I had this done Monday night but wanted to add some pics off my friends phone so I delayed and then I delayed again!

First up - make sure you've seen this post where I'm giving away COLD HARD CASH to one lucky winner this month and YOU can get in on the action for NEXT month!

You guys, one of the events I've been looking forward to since late last year FINALLY happened this past weekend!

Even with the crazy weather and an opening act on Saturday that I didn't want to see, I had the BEST time! I do have to say the weather really played into our favor on Saturday, we didn't have to pay for parking, I was able to get my nice camera that I found out later I really wasn't supposed to have lol and even though it was rainy, it helped cool things down so it wasn't hot as Hades like it was Sunday!

We didn't get to see Big & Rich, which I didn't really care about and with the weather they would have had to keep us even later Saturday night since they delayed the show about 1.5 hours. Sunday it started just a little before 5 0'clock and I loved EVERY SINGLE act on Sunday, in fact with the exception of Colt Ford (who I had never heard of before this event) I was absolutely in love with all of them! No pics from Sunday, but enjoy the ones I caught on Saturday!!

In July I have tickets to see Tim McGraw again and OMG I'm so excited. He's been a favorite of mine since like 1997 when him and Faith did It's Your Love.

The other thing I managed to do this weekend was finish Rule by Jay Crownover, another Book Bash author that I had not read and get my DIY Screen Print stuff ALMOST done. I think I'll finally get to print my first thing tonight so wish me luck!! This didn't happen...I'm getting ready to go for my THIRD try tonight with the "burning" or the image and hopefully third time is the charm because it's gotten better each time and I think I've figured out how to fix it for good!

So definitely wish me luck! I'm also going to be watching So You Think You Can Dance since it's my only Summer show! What's your Summer show?

Happy Hump Day!

Special Five Favs on Friday: Celebrity DILFs!

Happy Friday!!!

Since Fathers Day is this weekend, I wanted to do a special version of the Five on Friday Favorites...I don't think you'll mind.

#1 Channing was recently made a dad and I don't care how ridiculous the movies he makes are...I will always be a Channing girl!

#2 Cam can - Yes, he was the bad guy in Twilight, but Cam when he doesn't have a long gross pony tail is rockin' the dad card hard! All leather jacket bad boy with his little girl - *swoon*

#3 David Beckham with those tats?! I was really good friends with a soccer enthusiast so I knew all about Beckham years ago, but seeing him with his kids just does. me. in.

#4 Josh Turner has a swoony voice, but seeing him with his kids, especially in this pic. OMG all the adorableness I just can't take it!

#5 Oh Josh Duhamel, you're gorgeous and you have a crazy good wife why did you also have to go and be a great dad to such a cute kid? That quote - Yes!

Do you have some favorite celebrities that are also rockin' the dad show?

I'm headed to JAcksonville Country Superfest this weekend and it's been MONTHS in the making. I can't believe it's finally here and I'll hopefully have tons of greatness to share on Monday or Tuesday if I'm still recovering Monday, lol!

Book Review: Arrest by June Gray

Life begins at happily ever after…

With a tag line like that you know this HEA girl was all over this sequel. I had just finished the first book in this series, Disarm, when I found out there would be a sequel, so I didn't have to wait as long as others did!

Arrest by June Gray

Synopsis: For Elsie and Henry, getting married and buying a house is only the beginning of their passionate new adventure. Elsie is flourishing in her job while Henry embarks on a new career as a police officer. Everything, it seems, has finally fallen into place.

Just when it’s all smooth sailing, they face life-altering changes that make Elsie question her ability to adapt. With Henry’s job putting him in constant danger, she watches helplessly while he slips back into his old habits. Elsie must find a way—through any means necessary—to prevent the past from repeating.

With the sand constantly shifting underfoot, Elsie and Henry have to figure out how to strengthen their bond—before they end up losing what matters most…

I love a good sequel, especially one where the couple is already married. I mean when's the last time you saw a couple get married in one book and divorced in the next?

I've always been a fan of what happens after the wedding and that's exactly what June has given us in her continuation of Henry and Elsie's story. For most couples, the first year isn't all roses, throw in a new career, with a move and some personal struggles of course the couple is going struggle! I really enjoyed the realness that I felt with these characters.

So, we have Elsie and Henry that have already weathered a painful past. They've made it through deployment, a heart break in their younger years and are finally getting the chance at their happily ever after, right? All is not easy for a uniformed man and his beloved unfortunately.

I think one of my favorite things about this series is that Henry isn't this rich alpha male that can sweep Elsie off to some exotic island or hire a body guard to keep her safe. He's a military guy and then a street cop that really doesn't make much so he's left trying to make it like a regular Joe except he's had some tough times to overcome in both careers.

The conflicts in this book were just the right amount, both in length and in depth if that makes sense. I didn't feel like it got dragged out too long. In fact, I was all of a sudden at 71% and realized I still couldn't see what people were complaining about! I was loving the emotional roller coaster that kept me on my toes, but hadn't completely gutted me. Even amidst all of the personal turmoil and outside static, June still gave the reader a lot of the steam we have come to love with Elsie and Henry.
I really enjoyed this sneak peek into their lives, and am excited about the next book in the series focusing on different characters, where we'll hopefully still get to see Elsie and Henry just a little bit more! The next book, Surrender is scheduled to be released in November.

If you haven't read the first book in this series, I'm giving it away after the synopsis for the first book in the series!

Find June on Facebook, Twitter or her website for more about her and her other novels!

Disarm by June Gray was a four star read for me, but after enjoying the sequel so much I'm second guessing my rating. Plus, I listened to it over the course of a couple months in between working out and the car so I got a very disjointed look at Disarm.

When the secrets of the past begin to surface, the truth can be disarming…

Synopsis: Twenty-six-year-old Elsie Sherman has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Henry Logan, since she was twelve years old. Unfortunately, Henry—now an Air Force officer—has only ever treated her like a younger sister, stepping into her brother’s shoes after he was killed in action.

That is, until the night when one dance ignites a sensual fire between the two, leaving Elsie aroused and confused. Is she allowed to lust after her surrogate big brother, who also happens to be her roommate? As the passion between them crosses the line into a territory that teases with the forbidden, Elsie decides to give herself to the man she has always desired. But Elsie is not prepared for where the relationship will take her.

Henry has been harboring two secrets. One can bring them closer together. The other will tear them apart. Now, with each startling new revelation, Elsie realizes that only she can decide if the past can ever be forgiven—and if a future with Henry is worth fighting for.

I'm giving away MY personal MP3 Copy of the first book in this series, Disarm. When I went to read this book months ago, the digital copy was cheaper than both the eBook and the paperback and you know that's how I roll. Since I won't be getting this signed or listening to it again I thought I'd share it with one lucky reader. This is for my used, like new MP3 copy of Disarm by June Gray.

Freakin' Weekend with Cleaning

Happy Monday friends!!

Let's just jump right in, shall we?!

Friday Night I finished The Fault in Our Stars and as most of you have already read it I won't go into detail, but it was a great book. It did make me cry and ya'll know how that goes, lol.

Saturday morning was brunch and running to a few different thrift stores with a friend looking for a jean jacket. Didn't find one so that was a bust but I did find a folding table for cheap in decent condition that I snagged and brought home.

Brunch we tried a new place to me Ciccio Cali in St. Pete. What you see below is what was left after ALL I COULD EAT of my breakfast bowl. Way too much food, but it sure was tasty!

Then Saturday and Sunday I actually managed to clean my room and when I say this know I have been trying to do this since last year! Every time I would start, I would get so far and either get sidetracked or run out of time.

Let me start by showing you this before pic that was taken several weeks ago (beginning of April), the last time I attempted to clean my room and it had gotten much worse but I forgot to take a before picture.

Yes, my bed is still not made. Yes, I still have piles of clothes to put away but I was tired and wanted to go to bed! This is real life people!

It was also kind of an impromptu cleaning as I had a whole list of things to get done (business cards, bag designs, website, reading, etc) and while cleaning has been on my list for about a year apparently I thought I should just get it done and my reasoning was that I would feel more creative if my space was cleaned up and I'm sure that's still true. I did get everything on that list done with the exception of finishing website stuff and I'm okay with that.

Sunday after finishing my room, some reading for a review tomorrow and designing we celebrated my brother's 21st birthday!! He loves his cookie cake, so I quickly made one for him and whipped up some butter cream frosting only to have him remind me he doesn't like butter cream. *face palm*

His friends even managed to get my dad to down a couple of shots and while I've seen my dad drink, I don't remember ever seeing him do a shot. We had a great time, and that's the last of the kids to turn 21 so there's that. It makes me feel weird and so old!

What did you get up to this weekend?

Next Weekend is my Jacksonville Country Superfest that I've been planning since NOVEMBER and I can't wait...come on Friday!

Five Favs on Friday

Good Morning Friends!

I've been absent this week, but I'm getting lots done offline and I'm so thankful for that. Checkout the link ups I participate in every Friday below all of this awesomeness!

Today is also my parents' anniversary, 33 years I think? Congrats you two I couldn't have asked for better parents!

1. Fav Song

Kip Moore, you and your baseball cap make me have major crushes when you sing songs like this!

2. Fav Design Find

Most aren't aware that the gazillion fonts downloaded from sites like aren't free for anything except personal use. Meaning, you can't legally print them on a shirt, bag or monetary website you're designing for someone else without contacting the designer or obtaining a commercial license. Most that know it don't do it anyway and just hope they never get caught. Since I'm looking at doing some things to sell with my screen printer, I wanted to make sure all my bases were covered and found this cool site that has listed fonts free for commercial use! *throws confetti*

3. Fav Discovery

For all of my book loving friends, this girl has so many of the books I love and/or want to read with their own Pinterest Boards!!! Quotes, "casting" ideas, book covers you name it she has it on these boards. I wish I had time to devote to doing something like this, but thankfully someone else already has!
Visit Cassandra Kutchara's profile on Pinterest.

4. Fav Read

This book came out earlier this month and I FINALLY got the chance to read it. It's hard for a sequel to such a good book to be better, but if any stand a chance, it's Breakable by Tammara Webber!

5. Fav Funnies

I'm going to grab some of my first HaHa pins I ever pinned on Pinterest, enjoy!

Last night I actually broke down and saw Maleficent and it was OMG SOOOO GOOD! Like seriously. I think they could have used a different actress like KaDee Strickland (from Private Practice) to play the villain and I wouldn't have had as many reservations about seeing it but I'm so glad I put my personal vendetta aside and watched it. I still don't plan on watching other Angelina movies, but I'm glad I watched this one. I would have been so bummed when I finally watched it to know I was missing out. Have you seen it yet?!

What are some of your favs from this week?!

Freakin' Weekend #HelloJune

Oh the glorious Monday...for me. I was off yesterday and while I got to sleep in and read a little I didn't devote my entire day to it like I really would have! Nope, I actually got some stuff done and tonight I'm taking a sewing class!!

Let's talk about the busy weekend I had and yet I still made time to read the Driven Trilogy!

1. Went to a Books A Million in hopes of finding more great books for Book Bash.
2. After a quick stop at Hobby Lobby Heaven, where S has never been we were trying to figure out lunch and remembered we were near Zim Zari's! If you're in the Tampa area and looking to venture to Pasco you should definitely give it a try it's like Beachy Tex-Mex.
3. This was a mudslide from lunch on Sunday when I finally tried Square 1 Burgers and it was oh so yummy!
4. Sunday and Monday afternoon I made time for reading in the sun to help out my pale skin.
5. After we attended the bridal show just to see what all the fuss was about, we caught a rainstorm happening across the Bay and this doesn't do it justice! You could clearly see the dividing line!
6. Sunday night FINALLY watched Labor Day with my parents and I liked the book so much better. Too much creepy music in the movie that I didn't feel at all in the book.
7. I tried out my Kiss nails from Influenster and it was so much fail all in one box. I'll be sharing more on that soon.
8. My screen printing kit came in the mail so I need to finish my designs and get them made!!
9. I'm going to give #fmsphotoaday a try. I did it for FIVE months in 2012 and then when I got my current job I stopped because my work/commute time skyrocketed.

What a wonderful weekend it was and I'm already counting down the days until next weekend, you too?!

How was your weekend?
