FYI, I ended up finding a couple of my ideas at this site and could look at it for HOURS! Even the little things I do for my friends are little Random Acts of Kindness. There's nothing that says a random act must be with a stranger, so keep that in mind if you're struggling with this little adventure.
Ideas
Share! Since I've been borrowing a lot of books from the library in hopes saving myself some dough, I absolutely loved this idea. I love finding random money I've left in bags or coat pockets and think it would be so cool to be flipping through a book and find a random $1! Obviously this is one I'll be doing between now and race day. I don't think I'll just put the $1 in books I'm returning, I plan on actually perusing the library and leaving them in other books I've borrowed!

Water! Obviously, I am absolutely in love with water. I might even have a little addiction to it, haha! Today, as sort of a test run S and I will be passing out mini water bottles on our way to the UCF Spring Game, so if you're in the Orlando area we just might run into each other!
Smile! I really need to work on this like FOR real. I'm really shy sometimes, especially when I'm on a mission or walking around a store. When I see someone coming my way I might smile a little and then immediately put my head down. I have no idea where this comes from, but I'd like to improve it.

Sniff Walk! I love this idea, because it's right up my beagle's alley! He loves going for walks, but I haven't been taking him because he takes so freaking long stopping to sniff every mail box and pee! I think I'll take him on a leisurely stroll now just as a RAoK, haha!
Airport Ride! Since I'm single and can get up relatively early with no fuss (thank you 7 am punch clock) I often get asked to take people to the airport. I never think much of it, but that's definitely something I don't have to do and I've even done it for people that were more acquaintances than friends.
Shopping Cart Assistant! This is something I should do more of too. Usually when there's a chance one may hit my car, I'll grab a shopping cart and roll it inside. I'm a germ-a-phobe so I have to have long sleeves on when I do it or wash my hands after I've done it so that's probably why I haven't done it more.
So, those are just a FEW of the many things you can do to show your kindness everyday.
How have you shown kindness recently?

I bet your taking people to the airport is such a blessing!! I've had to be dropped off at the airport, oh, countless times. My grandparents usually get the honor. It's such a big help!

I smile at everyone I make eye contact with. You never know when that just might make someone's day! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! If we are happy we can bring happiness to others and others to us! Pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese are some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas, particularly taking folks to the airports at crazy o'clock which I know many people don't enjoy doing.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of leaving dollar bills in library books! That's such an awesome idea. I think I want to do that and maybe even take it a step further by leaving a note with the dollar, like a pick-me-up quote or something. I definitely try to bring in carts when I'm at the grocery store, and I always bring my carts to the designated areas. I hate when people just leave them in the parking lot! So frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI love reading posts like this! I think that holding doors and elevators is a lost act of kindness - it used to be so commonplace but now everyone is in a hurry or their head is in their phone. A friend tweeted about her bad day the other day so I sent a $5 Starbucks card via email to cheer her up. I was going to send it via twitter but her tweets are protected. I love it as a little way to make someone's day!
ReplyDeleteLove the library book idea! I am so terrible for putting my head down rather than smiling- that quote is a good motivation to hold my head high and share a little happiness!
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous idea and lovely thing you are doing!
ReplyDeleteI like to say hello or smile when I walk past someone. Sometimes it throws them and other times you see them light up.
ReplyDeleteI tend to be an airport driver too. I live fairly close so people can call when they are getting off the plane and I'll be there before they get to pick up!
