H is for H2O

Happy Hump Day friends, it's confession time around here. Hi, my name is Heather and I'm addicted to water a.k.a. H2O...

I'm a little odd woman out with this particular favorite of mine. While others are choosing sweet drinks, soda, coffee or tea I'm usually ordering water. Straight up, no lemon please. Occasionally, like this past weekend I indulged in a glass of unsweetened sun tea and it was divine. I'll even add in a margarita or two when we go out for drinks because those are my absolute favorite! Plus a Tall, Non-fat, No Whip, Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks when I'm stopping at Starbucks...or an unsweetened Passion Tea.

When you're drinking, you really need more water. I've managed to never get drunk. A) I'm terrified of puking and B) For every glass of alcohol, I have 1-2 of water. So, when I'm drinking 3-4 margs which is the most I've had in an evening (with one shot and a framboise) I drank so much I actually peed myself a little from laughing so hard. I said I've never been drunk, but I've been tipsy!

This is my trusty cup or glass of choice.

I've been sporting this same double wall tumbler with straw style since 2010 when I received my first Starbucks one as a gift and I've never looked back. Now that I have other options i.e. pink ones, I tend to use my Starbucks ones for iced coffee or my unsweetened tea. This just assures me that I really only have to use hot water and a little soap to wash off the grime of my favorite water containers!

Personally, I never was one to drink a lot of sugar drinks. Even though we currently live in the south my mom never made sweet tea because my dad prefers unsweetened and we were only allowed one soda per day growing up. Juice and milk were allowed, but I'm picky about my juice and I never drink milk unless there's a sweet thing to go with it. You know I can't have a cupcake or cookies without a glass of milk.

We've all heard that you should drink eight 8 ounce glasses a day of water. Well, I'm no expert but in the general scheme of things if you're reaching for and hitting that goal your body will love you for it. Sure, you might have a few trips to the bathroom but it's all worth it in the end. I said I wasn't an expert, but that doesn't mean I don't have some tips for getting your H2O on!

Have a cup with a straw and lid.
If you can't have a lid, I would definitely recommend you have a straw. It's just so much easier to suck it on down!

Have a pretty cup you want to drink out of and make sure it has a straw.
I received mine as a gift from a good friend last month for my birthday, but if you want your own just like it get yours here.

You don't always need ice. I prefer to get my water from a filtered cooler either out of the fridge, or a fountain at work. If you don't have a filtered fridge or cooler, you can get one of those filtered jugs. I just think filtered water (at least in Florida) tastes better.

Have friends that love water just as much as you do.
We all take turns running to the kitchen to fill up the water cups for each other. I'm usually the one running since I drink the most water, but I also make a pit stop at the bathroom while I'm up. 2 birds, 1 stone. Boosh!

Learn some jokes about your favorite drink. Thanks to Amy from the Bobby Bones show for introducing me to this joke, lol! In case you can't listen to it.

What is a ninja's favorite drink? Water Ninja chop!

That's it...I mean, how hard can it be right?

  1. You sold me on the straw and lid a while back. I have a double insulated that looks like a mason jar so it has the bonus of a handle on the side!! My 5 year old was always stealing it so just last weekend I found her a double insulated with Wonder Woman on it! It's super cool - I kinda want to steal it and let her have my old mason jar one! :) I do like a sangria every once and a while. I have a coffee from my Keurig every morning and splurge on a fancy coffee from a local coffee shop every few weeks! Oh and I love my unsweet tea!!

i read another blogger stuffs fresh mint and lemon slices into her water and i just might try that!!

  6. I'm definitely a fan of water with NO lemon and at room temps. It helps me drink more throughout the day. :) I always keep a HUGE, obnoxious bottle by me each day to make sure I'm drinking enough. The power of some H20 is seriously underestimated! It keeps me from overeating too! Stay off, LBs, no one wants you here! ;)

  8. I've found that keeping water next to me on my desk definitely helps! Although I still need to be better about it.

  9. I used to be a Diet Coke addict like none other. But this year I decided to really cut back. Now I think I have maybe one per week at most! I have been drinking a ton of water, and I feel so much better!

  10. I drink at least a gallon of water a day but I have to have a Diet Coke and a coffee too. I need to break it up and a straw is a must!

  11. I LOVE WATER! I feel like servers think I'm cheap whenever I order water at restaurants, but really I just love water. I can't say that I've never gotten drunk, because I've done that a time or two, but I do love me some water. I also don't like anything in my water. I always say "water no lemon." I don't like that lingering taste. Yuck.

  13. I need a glass, not plastic. Then I'm set. I do love that glitter cup though.

I drink over 100 ounces a day. I like to flavor it with lemon, cucumber, and sometimes peppermint.
