Sunny, Fall Weekend

Since we finally had a cold front move through, it actually felt a little like Fall here. I even broke out my flats and a scarf that I haven't worn in MONTHS!

1. Luke Bryan Friends!
2. UCF Friends!
3. Thirty minute wait at 4Rivers.
4. Making my recipe for Recipe Night.
5. Logged our walk to and from the car for #50MilesinOctober
6. Had a yummy smoothie after my Sunday morning walk before church.
7. UCF Halftime with pink flags!!!
8. Half the crock pots at Recipe Night!
9. Sunday I woke up early enough to get a walk in!

Friday was my super exciting date with Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Ugh! They were both fantastic and the only downer of the night was when my friend and I got lost on our way back to the car.

You see, we parked about 3/4 a mile from the venue thinking we'd be able to get easier. Well, what we didn't count on was parking so far away that we wouldn't be able to find our way back. So, after walking over a MILE out of our way, we finally made it back in the right direction. My boots tried to give me a blister or two, but my feet are pretty resilient!

Saturday was pretty awesome. Last minute invite to the UCF #GoKnights football game had me in high spirits even though I had to set my alarm. We get to the game and my friend proceeds to tell me he forgot to tell me it was the pink game. What?! How can you forget to tell the girl obsessed with all things pink that it was the pink game?! So, we had to make a stop at the little store in the stadium where they luckily had pink stuff and I got a cute tank to support the tatas! We scored 45 points in the first half, it was a very exciting time!!

I also finally got to try out 4River Smokehouse which has been hyped pretty high by my friends that went to UCF. Now, since I've been eating smoked meats forever, because my dad smokes a lot I might be a little picky. I don't like a lot of fat and I definitely don't like mushy pulled pork or chicken so I wasn't all that amazed. Personal opinion, obviously.

Sunday we were gearing up for our ladies recipe night. I'll have a post up about that later in the week, but this time it was crock pot so I made my super yummy Crock Pot Cream Cheese Corn!!

What were you up to this weekend? Did your sports team win?

My Date with Luke Bryan

Well, you know...his name is in my date book. I know he's married, but I like to think that since it's on both of our calendars it's more like a date. Except he doesn't know me, at all. Haha! (as if, yeah right, whatever!)

I don't live in la la land all the time, but I've been joking with a couple friends about my date with Luke Bryan tonight so I thought that's how I'd introduce my concert news! Tonight is the night! Look at the cute little not my friend and concert companion left me!

In honor of my evening out, I thought I'd share my top FIVE favorite country songs right now!

Eli Young Band's Drunk Last Night

Parmalee's Carolina

David Nail's Whatever She's Got

Luke Bryan Play It Again

Blake Shelton's Mine Would Be You

#1 and #2 are kind of tied...I play both A LOT when I'm in the car on repeat or whenever they come on in someone else's car I'll turn it up haha!

What's your favorite, can't get enough of this song, right now?

Off the Couch + #50MilesInOctober

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed I've been keeping track of my walks this month. I tried the 5K running app and right now realized running isn't what I want to focus on. Not that it's ever been my thing, but I thought I should give it a shot.

Walking, I know.

Walking, I can do.

So, walking, it is!

Thanks to my Fall Cara Box partner Hannah for throwing this challenge out there.

I'll probably end up finishing by the skin of my teeth. There are so many things I feel are working against me, like this cold/sinus thing I've got going on. It kept me home from work today and this evening was one of the only days I was going to be able to walk. Since I work 9 hour days I have a very small window of outside light and good temperature to walk in. Obviously, I can still get the same workout in at the gym that I'm paying for (that's another post) but I really enjoy walking outside!

Another thing taking up some walking time is Pure Barre. I saw people talking about Pure Barre and other "ballet/dance" exercise classes popping up this year and hadn't tried it. So, when a friend of mine and I saw that they had a Groupon for a local Barre Studio, we snatched. It. Up. It's so much more of a workout than I was expecting, ha!

I also know I really need to keep myself accountable with my food choices along with the physical activities I'm challenging myself with. This is my biggest struggle right now. I really feel like I don't have self control and most of the time I don't want it. I want to be able to eat what I want, within reason. I know the foods that make me feel "weird" and I know the foods that make me feel great! I'm being very selfish with my body and living in the now. Not really focusing on how my "me, now moments" will have an effect on the future me and that's a problem.

I'm going to give MyFitnessPal another shot if you want to add me. I always say Weight Watchers never worked for me, because it didn't. I tried it for a year with absolutely no results. My mom does it and it works. I have a friend doing it and I really hope it works for him. Since they're doing it I talked to my mom about working that into my routine as well.

What do you do when a craving hits? How do you stay active and get your fitness activities in?

Pumpkin Carving Fun

Happy Fall!

Yeah, Fall has been happening for a month now and it's been pretty great for me. Notice how I didn't say cool? Well it's still in the 80's every day in Florida, so no sweaters, scarves or boots for me yet! Fall comes with some of my favorite things and that includes Halloween and carving pumpkins.

I'm not a lover of all things #PSL. Pumpkin Spice Latte if you haven't heard the acronym used, have you BEEN to Starbucks this month? I'm picky about my pumpkin consumption. Seeds, pie, carving are my thing and I've thought about trying a pumpkin face mask as well. I hear it has lots of benefits.

So pumpkin carving is something I haven't done in a few years. I'm not one to get dirty so my pumpkin carving must involve long sleeves and a glove along with your standard carving "kit". I'm pretty sure you've never carved pumpkins quite like I have, making the eww face whenever you pull out your stringy insides littered with seeds.

It's just something you have to do if you want to carve pumpkins and you're too old to have someone else clean out the guts for you. Yep, as a kid my parents would clean out the guts for me and I didn't have to touch them.

So, let's look at our creative carving skills, shall we?

We actually had to run to the local CVS out on the beach for candles and shockingly they didn't have any. Nothing Halloween, or even for hurricane preparedness. I suppose if there's a hurricane you would evacuate the beach but I would think tealight candles would be standard thing to carry. Anyway, we ended up getting regular smell good candles, lol.

Any guesses which one is mine? Just a little guessing fun!
Sadly mine has already been destroyed by the moldy gods. Thanks to the humidity in Florida, you can't do it so far before Halloween and expect it to last. I really wanted to do a sparkly one or a lacy one like the ones I found on Pinterest below so I still may do another one or two!

Have you carved pumpkins yet? Planning another form of pumpkin fun?

I'm linking up with some fun girls today!

Tailgating Weekend Adventures

If you saw this post, I talked a little about how I was looking forward to tailgating but unsure how it might go since I'm such a newbie.

Well...I'm pretty sure I had a blast! Seriously, even though we had to get up super early. I'm talking 4:40 a.m. and then hit the road since we have a two hour drive. *thumbs down*

Then we might have been a little hurried and stuffed ourselves silly before making the twenty minute trek to the football stadium, haha!

Here's some of the awesome pics from the day.

Friends are awesome and taking pics of the visiting fans can be the highlight of the morning.

I chose to wear a dress since it was in Orlando, at noon and I hate Orlando when it's hot. Yuck! However, it wasn't really necessary.

The weather was surprisingly AMAZING!!! It did actually rain, more than just sprinkle once during the second half of the game and I might have had to run to the bathroom and take a trip around under the stadium while the rain passed. Next time, I'll definitely plan on bringing a hat.

We did lose, our first and only loss of the season (so far) so that was disappointing, but we still managed to have a good time.

Then, after spending time with friends in O-Town we had the long drive home. However, you make a car ride fun by talking about things like bodily functions and funny stories.

Overall it was one of my favorite weekends this Fall so far! I just love fall. *sigh*

My Victorious, Intangible Weekend

Sooo, it's been a few weeks since I've done a weekend post.

Yeah, I've done some stuff and had some laid back weekends just not really feeling like sharing it with the world before I go to bed on Sunday night. Then I think I'll do it Monday, as Monday comes and goes.

Let's look at the last couple weekends over the next few days. Before I tell you about what's happened, let's talk about the things that made me happy this weekend. None of these images are mine, because these things weren't tangible but they were awesome in my little world.

#1. I buy lotto tickets for the office pool sometimes and this weekend I got carded. Yeah, looking ten years younger than I really am was an awesome complement. I won't even go into why I think I look young (like adult acne) because I was shocked!

#2. UCF beat undefeated Louisville!!!! Seriously, after the last home game was a loss I was looking for a victory. (Yes, I know they won their last away game, but this was an undefeated team!!)

#3. I found out Gossip Girl Season Six got added to NETFLIX!!!!

I also think Hart of Dixie got some added and that's another fav show that I don't always catch "live" or on DVR because if I DVR'd everything I "want" to watch I'd probably never leave the house.

What'd you get up to this weekend?

I did make it past the halfway point in my #50MilesinOctober I'm working toward. Woohoo! I also went to a local Basset Hound Rescue fundraiser and an indoor tailgate for the Buccaneers. If only they would have won. I also ended up with a cold this weekend. Boo.

Sometimes I Fail

At life - when I make really bad decisions and end up learning from my mistakes. That's what growing up is about, but I'm getting close to thirty and don't want to keep making them.

At responding to emails - especially when like two weeks go by and I had a really great responses. If I don't respond AS SOON AS I OPEN IT, it'll either never get a response or could take me 2-8 weeks.

At being funny - at work they think I'm hilarious. Most of the time I'm acting like a raving lunatic so that's understandable. Other times, I try telling a story and my word choice is funnier than the punch line. a.k.a. Human Gas.

At being a good friend - I can let months go by and not talk to someone. This is why I'm so thankful for those relationships that can just pick up, even after years and feel like nothing's changed.

At blogging - It's been over 10 days since I blogged even though I have lots to say and some pics to share.

At not putting a book down - I read FOUR books in 6 days. They were all Fabulous reads! I wish I was better at reviewing them for you. You should just follow me on Goodreads, though I'm not so good at updating that all the time either.

At prioritizing - Did you see my messy corner? You should see the rest of the room and guess how long I've been "meaning" to clean it.

At being creative - I went to school for this dang it and sometimes I wonder how I made it through four years of projects only to come out on this side feeling empty. I did have a couple really good years in the Twilight fandom so I really need some good inspiration.

At making goals - I'm not bad at following them through I just don't want to fail and rarely put myself out there.

At relationships with the opposite sex - I'm kind of shy and a bit of a bitch. I tell it like it is unless I'm crushing on you mad then I'm the shy girl. I don't go up to guys, I'm insecure. I'm working on this.

This was just a fun post and I hope you got a laugh or two out of it. I really want to blog about my tailgate/college football last weekend and then my not so eventful this past weekend. Wish me luck!

If you're still reading, bless you for sticking around.
