Weekend Whatever

You know that Leezak quote from Just Married where he talks about how you never see the hard days in a photo album. Since I'm a singleton, my hard days are like my happy days, solo.

I wasn't even sure if I would have any photos to show for my weekend but then I checked and I managed to snap a few, one even accidentally.

1. I made birthday cake pancakes for my friend visiting from Hawaii. Her birthday was last week and when I told her about these she was like you HAVE to make them.
2. This was my accidental shot. I don't even think that's my car so I'm not sure what's going on.
3. I went to another Pampered Chef party, didn't spend much so that's always a good thing!
4. I got my Influenster box for Slimfast in! Haven't tried it yet. You know there will be a post on it.

I did a whole lot of nothing this weekend. I did just watch Twilight and New Moon with my mom. We'll watch Eclipse tomorrow night and then the rest later this week hopefully. Twilight always manages to bring a smile to my face.

What brings a smile to your face? What did you get into this weekend? Hopefully it was better than mine!

I chose not to get all sad face on today's post since it's supposed to be a fun this was my weekend post. Come back tomorrow where I'll bore you to tears.

Low key weekends and flu bugs

I know this is super late, but yesterday I must have come down with what is hopefully a 24 hour flu bug. If it's not over by 8pm tonight, I'll start to get a littler worried. Even though I called in sick, this is the first time I've felt like blogging all day!

Let's talk about how laid back my weekend was...until it wasn't.

Friday was a work day for me this week. Nothing spectacular happened. I went for my nightly run/walk training.

I finished Fever, the second book in the Breathless Trilogy by Maya Banks. It was a little too unbelievable for me and I didn't love it as much as I loved the first one. Not that I don't always want a HEA, but sometimes a guy doing a total 180 over a chick isn't believable, even to me! The third one comes out in August, and I need to add it to my calendar to remember to pick it up, lol.

Saturday I finished off the week with my 5th run, so I managed to do that ONE thing on my weekly goal, lol. I was definitely proud of myself and am excited to see what this week brings! Lunch with a friend at yummy Outback, all healthy and only one slice of their brown bread!

Saturday evening I continued my self imposed exile and read the book Real by Katy Evans. I loved it! So hot, so swoonworthy and Remy is totally going on my book boyfriend list! Sure he has his flaws, his demons but that's what rounds out his bad boy persona. I need more bad boys in my boring life.

Sunday I went to church, got to sing with the band, yay! Ate lunch with my dad at The Lucky Dill, though I'm not sure if I should be cursing the food since I ended up with a stomach ache a few hours later. Even with the nauseousness, I went ahead and met with my friends at Marble Slab for National Ice Cream day!

Shouldn't have had the ice cream but I thought my sickness would pass. Not so much. By the time I got home I was in the bathroom frequently, finally able to fall asleep after 4am only to be woken up at least once every hour to go to the bathroom again. I haven't been this sick in a long time.

Sunday afternoon I had started what turned out to be one of the longest books I've read in a LOOOOONG time! Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens and finished it into the wee hours of the morning while I was writhing in agony. Having the stomach flu feels worse to me since I won't let myself just puke and get it over with. If you've read some of my stuff you know about my Emetophobia.

Who's your favorite bad boy, either in movie or book form? Did you read Fever, Real or Thoughtless? What did you think of them?

Sometimes I Hate Being A Girl...Period.

If you're a boy, what are you doing reading a post titled I Hate Being a Girl?!

This post covers a few of things I've been sitting on lately. It's amazing how they all tie in at least once a month.

One. I am an emotional mess. This about smacked me in the face when I was set off by every little thing at work. After the 4th or 5th time I told my boss I was taking a sick day and left. Only to cry once I was in the car because I left my lunch there. Really?! Crying over lunch when I was going to pass a couple Chick-fil-a stores on my way home? I'm not just emotional once a month, I'm just a lot MORE emotional once a month, lol.

Two. I have adult acne. Some things make it FLARE LIKE CRAZY. Stress. Hormones. Unhealthy/greasy Food. I'm pretty certain of the first two, but the last one is just something I've heard and have found to be true. This month I just had a really bad flare up so it's stuck in my head. I should be thankful the last several months haven't been as bad as this one. Eeep!

Don't get all worried about my self-esteem. I just think this is truly how I see myself when I have a zit. It's all I can focus on, even if it's not that bad.

Three. I should appreciate my regular periods. Every time I start to grumble under my breath, I think about all the women in my life who don't have regular periods and have issues or may have issues with becoming pregnant. Not that this is at the top of my list anytime in the near future, but someday I hopepray I won't have a problem. Boo.

Four. I hate being a girl. Sometimes. Not Really. I don't know. The root of the problem is I was born into this body that goes though some crazy shit. There's no other way to describe it. Guys don't have to worry about any of the things I've mentioned. Sure, they may have acne but in my opinion I don't think acne really changes the way a guy looks for the most part. One or two zits aren't anywhere on my radar when I'm checking out a guy.

If you're looking for a laugh after this lengthy, honest post you should go here.

I've still not found anything to combat my adult acne...anybody have suggestions? I wash my face twice daily and have tried different topical products.

Weekly Goals - A Successful 5K

If you follow me on twitter, you might have seen that I signed up for my 1st 5K!!!

While this is definitely exciting, I'm such a newbie, even to running still that I have a lot to learn. In lieu of this new adventure, I wanted to see about setting some weekly goals to help me succeed!

This Week My Goals Are:

1. Run 5/7 Days
I'll be using the C25K app to start off with, even though I have a little less than SIX weeks to get ready.
2. Cut out Soda
I've done this before, so I know I can do it! I generally only have a few a week if any but cold turkey really is the way to go for me.
3. Develop a routine.
This is something I haven't done since college, probably. The only thing I've had to focus on the last year was work and now that I have that routine, I need to start setting a routine for the rest of my life instead of being so willy nilly.
4. Go to bed by 10:00 pm in preparation for an earlier time next week.
I actually did this last night and I felt so good, lol. Not that I woke up super refreshed, but I'm hoping by moving it earlier I will start to wake up without feeling tired. This will go along real well with the routine!

What about you, did you set some goals for yourself this week? What are some pointers you could give me for running my first 5K?

Hope you're having a great week so far! Aren't you glad Monday is OVER?!

My Fab Weekend and it's Not Over Yet

Happy Monday Morning!

It's a Happy Monday because I'm still home in my PJs since I took the day off! Now if only I had 52 days of vacation I may never work a Monday again, bwahaha!

Let's talk a little about my weekend, shall we?

I posted Friday letting you know a little about how my first day went since I had beachy plans most of the weekend.

1. I got a manicure, my nails made it two weeks with regular polish, but they were in desperate need of a fresh coat.
2. I got my sun on at the beach!
3. We watched The Call and I don'tnever watch scary movies, so we also had to watch Identity Thief to get my mind off the scary!
4. Another couple hours at the beach and we even had entertainment. These guys were working out while we were sweating just being lazy.
5. Hello Lazy Moon. My friends that went to UCF had talked this place UP and it really was worth all the hype!
6. Then they took me on a tour of their college campus. Nostalgic, even though I didn't go there because it made me feel like I was back in college!
7. We tried a third round at the beach but mother nature laughed at us so hard she cried rain. At least I had my chair to cover my hair.
8. Despicable Me 2 was our indoor preferred activity with the rainy Florida weather and it was good!
9. I finished off my Sunday on the couch finishing up Nashville on HuluPlus with a tummy ache from the junkfood I ate over the weekend.

What'd you get up to this weekend?

Oh! I almost forgot to mention the winner of my Summer Must Have Giveaway was...DarcysMom! Congrats lady and I'm mailing out your package today!

Ready, Set, Go - 4-Day Weekend at the Beach!

Ohai there pretty friends!!!

I'm starting my weekend with a Friday off and hanging out at the beach!

Here's a preview of the weekend, erm just what's happened so far, lol!

1. Just a #selfie in front of the water.
2. Sportin' the pedi on the beach!
3. Hogan's a place I DO NOT want to go, but a good place for pic ops!
4. Walking down the strip to get some chips for Strawberry Salsa...I was singing and taking pics, I might also be a little tipsy. :)

What do you have planned for the weekend?!

Don't forget my Summer Must Have Giveaway ends this weekend! I'm shipping the winnings out on Monday and making the announcement Saturday or Sunday. Depending on if I'm around on Saturday.

Sex, No Drugs & Rock-n-Roll - My What If Dream

I'm watching the whole first season of Nashville on HuluPlus this week and it's really made me remember how much I wanted to be a famous singer.

For most people, that's something they dream of being as a kid but I had an opportunity that I let slip through my fingers because I thought I was too young.

Some of the things that played into this dream are -
I've performed at Carnegie Hall as part of a group while I was in High School and way back in middle school was scouted by a talent scout and one performance away from singing at the Grand Ol' Opry.

I gave up a full ride to one college and a partial to another (for music) because I was too scared to leave the comfort of my parents home.

I love my life but it's hard not to imagine what might have been if I'd taken a different path.

What If?

You play this game some time? You look back on a time and just imagine what your life could be like if you'd followed that particular dream instead of keeping your feet on the ground?

I'm a creative soul by nature, but the technical side I've always struggled with. I never pursued music in college because I can't really read music. In high school my sister even had to put together a cheat sheet for me when we were doing hard core sight reading.

Since then, in the last 10+ years I've grown a lot. Still, not technically but I have an ear that lets me pick out a third part harmony when the typicalnatural harmony is already being sung. I love music, always have and watching this show has even sent me to Craigslist looking for bands that may be looking for a singer, lol.

This is the highlight of my singing right now, with the church on Sunday mornings half the time and if a special gig comes along like this Christmas Eve in the park. It's been enough for so long, but what if there's more?

What's your...What If dream?

The title of this post came from a line in Nashville!

Hopefully this doesn't have typos! I edited a little but from my phone before it went live.

I'm Not a Book Reviewer?! *gasp*

Hello Pretties!

Have you ever seen me give a real book review on here or is it more just a passing by of telling you I read a book?

It's probably more appropriate to say Why I'm Not a Real Book Reviewer, lol. I really appreciatelove book reviewers, I just would never consider myself one and here are a few reasons why.

- Give me a good HEA! I absolutely HATE reading one without it. There's enough HF (heart fail) in the world and in general I read to escape.

- Give me more books in that same series and I'll be swooning for days. Unless it's the same story retold from "his" POV, I'm getting a little tired of this. Some deserveneed it, others just...no.

- Don't make me have to read every word...I'm a skimmer by nature, so if I have to "concentrate" on your book it's probably not for me. Sorry, I'm not sorry. Just being honest.

- I never read a lot of the books that most people loved; Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Divergent, etc. I'm sure I'm missing out on A LOT but I didn't read them so they've slipped my mind. I tried reading all of these they just weren't for me. Like I've said on this blog before, I need an easy read. I don't want to have to think too hard or remember a lot of stuff.

- I would give two stars or lower to books, but I just never finish them if I do, so I don't feel the need to rate them. Maybe I should?

- There's no way I could accurately describe a book without spoilers, I don't think.

- On that same note, I'm usually left speechless with a big ol' smile on my face when I want to review a book! By the time I might have something to tell someone I've already recommended it to all my friends and started a new book. By recommending, I mean shoving it in their face and telling them they have to read it!

- Last but not least, I don't like to see people tearing apart a book or how bad the writing is...even if it's true. Just because you hated it doesn't mean that someone else who loved it is better or worse than you for thinking it's the greatest thing.

Do you read book reviews on sites like Goodreads? Amazon? I do! I love 'em, wouldn't wanna be one!

I'm giving away my favorite read so far this Summer...you know, the one I couldn't (and still can't) stop thinking about!

P.S. It's Signed!

Pretty in Pink...Polish

Is it me or is everybody jumping on the nail polish bandwagon...Clinique, Victoria's Secret, etc. Has anybody tried either of these yet?

My fav brand of polish is Color Club! I fell in love with their vibrant colors a couple years ago when I got a pedicure after the long dreary winter months. Of course it was in pink, lol!

Honestly, the only time I don't wear pink (for the most part) is Holidays. Red for Christmas and Lincoln Park After Dark for Halloween. *nods*

The salon I go to has introduced me to a couple of my absolute-can't-live-without favorites. Color Club polish and Seche Vite top coat.

Seche is hands down the BEST top coat I have EVER used. I didn't believe in using a top coat because I'd never had one that worked...until I realized what they were using on my nails when I got a manicure was available for under $10 at the local beauty store.

This is 10 days with a regular manicure, using Color Club and Seche Top coat!

Color: Jackie Oh!

Sure, there's wear but none of my nails have chipped...yet! I can tell they're about ready to, but I just can't continuously pay $25 for gel nails when I know for a fraction of the price they can still last more than just a few days!

Do you have a favorite polish brand? What's your favorite polish color?

Along with a couple other goodies, I'm giving away a Pink Color Club polish and a bottle of Seche Top Coat in my Summer Favs going on now, check it out here!

The Rainy Weekend That Was

While we got a bit of sunshine, we also got A LOT of rain!

I know it's the rainy season, but every year I forget just how bad it is, lol. I always think "it wasn't this bad last year," but I'm sure it was. To be honest, we had one 24-36 hour period of non-stop rain so bad to the point I was trying to shovel out the water from the pool because the pump couldn't keep up with the constant downpour!

Let's get on to what I actually DID this weekend, huh?

First off I should mention that I'm having my second giveaway and it's all about my Must Have Summer Essentials. You know you want in on these goodies!! You can enter by clicking the image below.

I kicked that off on Friday, after a whole week of blogging! *fist pump* I was definitely a slacker while I was trying to read up for Book Bash, so I'm really trying to catch up. I have a couple more up my sleeve for this week, stay tuned!

1. I actually went for a walk outside. It was nice enough (no rain!) and I didn't want to drive all the way to the gym.
2. I read TWO books over Friday and Saturday. Easy by Tammara Webber and Jane's Melody by Ryan Winfield. Good books, I obviously couldn't put them down.
3. Met up with a friend for lunch on Saturday after I lounged in the sun before the rain came.
4. I experimented with hot rollers, lol. I've had these gelly rollers for a couple years and only used them twice.
5. Spent today watching Nashville on HuluPlus, I need to get it all watched so I can be ready to start the second season in the Fall!

What you don't see?

S and I went to dinner on Saturday, LATE! We were supposed to go line dancing, but she worked all day and I was okay with doing whatever as long as I got out of the house. She starts a week long vaca tomorrow and I'm a tad bit jealous.

Sunday morning, since S was still working long hours with the "Holiday" weekend *rolls eyes* we went to a different church for their early service. They talked about blind spots, I'm thinking of watching the rest of the series online as it becomes available. I was really intrigued.

That's it. Next weekend I'm spending it at the Beach and making a trip to Orlando for Lazy Moon! I'm looking forward to my four day weekend coming up so this week better fly by!

What did you get up to this weekend? Anything exciting planned for this week?

I Heart Mail - Reveal: June Cara Box

Happy 4th of July! I hope you're enjoying this American Holiday as much as I am. My festivities won't start until this evening with a late dinner, so I'm getting things prepped and being lazy today!

Thanks to all the men and women that have served our country (including friends and family) to make this day and every other day free for those of us that call America home.

I think it's about time I share my June Cara Box, don't you? I got paired up with two fab ladies yet again!! Cindy over at My-BellaVida and Lindsey at Bliss and Blunders of a Newlywed

You can see the ah-mazing pics Cindy took of the box I sent her on her blog!

I was epic fail this month at getting to know Lindsey, but she did an awesome job getting to know me! I loved this month's theme, which was surprising since I had absolutely no idea what I was going to send when I first read it. Lindsey did an excellent job at matching up the theme with my likes and now I get to share it with you!

I'm absolutely in love with the lion chop sticks, OMG! I don't even know how to eat with regular ones but now I want to learn, lol! Pink polish is always a bonus gift and I love the leopard nail file! She got me a PINK popcorn box and some popcorn to go with it, of course! I also got two cups to go with the popcorn bin and then the animal crackers for a snack! Maybe I'll sit down with all of this Fair inspired goodness and watch Water for Elephants with Rob Pattinson?! *nods* I think so!!

Some close ups of what she got me!

Thank you so much Lindsey! We got off to a slow start, but I can't wait to read all about your wedding on your blog!

I had to take a time out from Cara Box for the month of July since I missed the deadline but I'm okay with that. If anybody knows of an exchange I can jump on board with this month to change things up, give me a holler!

Don't forget to come back for my Summer Must Have Giveaway tomorrow!!!

DIY: Patriotic Strawberries

So I whipped up some yummy treats to take into the office today and my goal was to have this up earlier...but I didn't even get around to typing it out last night. #fail.

I wanted to share with you one of THE EASIEST desserts I've made for the last couple patriotic parties we've had. I initially saw the idea on this Pin!

Strawberries
White Chocolate to Melt
Double Boiler Pan (or whatever you use to melt your chocolate)
Blue Sugar
Wax Paper
Condiment Cup, bowl or plate

Rinse off your strawberries and make sure they're dry.
Lay out a piece of wax paper.
Empty out your blue sugar into a cup, bowl or plate. (I use a condiment cup because it's the perfect size for the strawberries I'm decorating)
Melt your chocolate so that it's nice and smooth (mine was being a PITA, but I made it work...kinda)
Dip one strawberry into the white chocolate and then immediately dip it into the blue sugar before laying it on the wax paper to set.
Complete with as many strawberries as you have, need or want!

That's it!

If you're unsure of which white chocolate to use, might I suggest Nestle? I've tried Ghirardelli, Hershey's and Nestle. Nstle is by far my favorite and the easiest to work with, IMO. Of course, you could probably use white chocolate bark just like you would for pretzels if you have that on hand.

As always, if you make these share a pic with me or a link so I can check them out!
You want to know why I didn't get around to doing this post last night?!

Because...I was too caught up in this book!

It probably dragged on a little too long for my liking, but they made some things happen that wouldn't have if they had ended it so I guess it was all good. Now I'm trying to pace myself before I dive into the next one, Walking Disaster from Travis' POV.

Just a reminder to follow me on Goodreads to keep up with my reading! Leave me a link to your Goodreads account so I can follow you too!!!

Have a Happy and safe 4th of July! I'm posting about my Cara Box tomorrow (since I got mine Monday) and then My Summer Must Have Giveaway on Friday!!

#Bookbash 2013

Book Bash was more than I could have imagined! The crowd was insane and the venue was hot, but I had such an awesome day I can't wait to do it again!

J and I arrived with only about 45 minutes until the doors were set to open. Luckily, there was a storm on its way through Orlando, because normally I don't even like to be outside long enough to get in my car...that's how hot it is. But, the storm kept the outside 45 minutes wait, nice and cool! Inside with all those warm bodies was another story.

Since we only had like TWO weeks to cram in as many books as we could, we didn't have a ton of authors we wanted to visit. The important ones for me were girls I had known from the Twilight fandom and meeting them was OMG soooo awesome! *flails*

Christina, Lauren and Alice were as fab and adorable in person as they are online!

Then there were the authors I've only just discovered and putting a face and personality to a breathing individual is always nice!

I was so excited to meet Colleen Hoover, and then I do something like try to lay down on her table for a pic. Sorry, Colleen...I promise I'm not a creeper!

We knew there would be several dozen authors we had never heard of, and this tall dude was one of them. A couple of authors gave free books away!

Ryan's book is about an older woman, and a younger guy so I'm still on the fence about that. I'm all for an older man (DILF anybody), but for some reason I guess I feel like a creeper when I like younger guys and I'm not even old!

Our very first table was J. A. Redmerski since she was giving away The Edge of Never which was a book we'd both read and LOVED!!! Then while we were randomly visiting other tables, they would just give us a book or let us pick one from the selection they brought!

Here's a snap shot of the crowd J got. I'm not sure how many were there, at least 500 but probably up to 1,000. With only four total hours to get in the door and standing in line we were lucky to visit 25-30 tables. The longest line was for S. C. Stephens and Kristen Ashley. Haven't read anything by either of them. S. C. Stephens is on my TBR Goodreads though since two of her books have swoon-worthy book boyfriends!

Our very last line was Cora Carmack, which I'm reading Losing It by her right now and she was so talkative! Her line took forever, but she was so cute interacting with all of us. I can't wait to finish her book, it's just now sucked me in and I don't want to put it down!

I should have definitely taken more pics, but there's always next year! It was just a little overwhelming for us and we'll know better when we go to something like this again. For starters, we want to stay the night and go to the before/after parties!!! Maryse has said they'll be another, we're holding you to that girl! Especially if it's in Florida again!!!!

I'll leave you with my swag pic! Some of these books I went in with, but look at all the great stuff I came away with!

Up next after I finish Losing it is...Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire.

What's on your TBR list?
