My Sunny Spring Weekend

Happy April Fools Day! Do you have any plans to fool someone today?! I don't...boring, I know.

This is my FOURTH week doing a Monday linkup! I’ve loved getting to see all the different blogs that link up after their weekends!! I wish I had enough time to soak up info from all of them but there just aren’t enough hours in the day. :( In other news...the weekend is over and that’s never cause for a celebration.

Day trip for the win! We headed South to Bradenton/Sarasota. Quick stop at the beach to stick our toes in the sand for the first seriously nice day in a what seems like forever.

We also visited St. Armand’s Circle. I’ve driven through here many times but it’s usually pretty cray-cray and I am not a fan of crowds so never stopped. It was in the plan this time and we didn’t do much but walk the shops...I was looking for flip flops and while there were several stores they just didn’t have what this uber picky girl was looking for.

We stopped at Rita's so I could fill my sweet tooth craving! Cherry Ice + Chocolate custard = Chocolate covered cherry! *licks lips*

Plans were definitely up in the air...I knew Wichita State was playing at 7:05 so I had plans to watch the game...by myself. Sure that’s fun because I can be all kinds of crazy with the goods and bads of a basketball game, but it’s fun to hang with other people too so I’m glad my friend Aaron invited me out for the game with his friends.

Before that I got a mani-pedi...I just wasn’t happy with the pastel pink I had chosen last time and I’m so much more comfortable in my HOT PINK!

I also promised a friend I’d help her pack...this is what she let me do while she slaved away. It was a great night.

We also had to get her drawer unstuck...this knife had been jammed in there for months. Seriously. I have a nice little bruise on my arm to show for all my hard work, but we finally got the damn thing unstuck!

Happy Easter! My first OOTD pic. Everything except jewelry would be from Gap. Definitely my favorite store.

Like almost every other Sunday morning you could find me at church. This weekend we had a Brunch Sunday, Yum! Lots of great food and a good service.

I had a relaxing hour or so out by the pool and then headed to dinner at my mom’s BFF’s house.

Throughout the weekend I did a lot of shopping;shoes, sunglasses, beauty products.. Boots I've been looking forever for, and I'm still not 100% sure because of my stupid decisiveness that I'm in love with them. They're a big commitment for the money I shelled out for them and I think that's holding me back a little.

Next week I think I might try the image collage I've seen some of the bloggers do...I know I ramble girls!

Do ya'll still get Easter baskets? I know we won't when us kids have children of our own...but that's not happened yet.

So, how was your weekend? Did Spring finally make an appearance where you live?!

Late Night Narrations - Reading and an almost confession

I probably won't post too many of these because I have to be up super early for work, but ever since vaca I haven't had a very good sleep schedule.

It's 2:36 my time and that's just way too late for me nowadays. I know my late night started out with the KU vs. Michigan game. I fell asleep around 7:00 just as the game started and slept a good two hours before I woke up and wanted to finish the game.  The nap was great, I definitely needed it! But now I'm stuck with not enough exhaustion to knock me out.

Then after the game in which Kansas lost :( I started on the next chapter of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.

via
Since I'm up this late with nothing else to do but blog you probably guessed that I finished it. *nods* It was a great book. Raw and real. A friend of mine at work that I've been swapping books with loaned it to me via Amazon. So thankful for this service, among many others they have to encourage reading!

“Its real, Six. You can't get mad at a real ending. Some of them are ugly. Its the fake happily ever afters that should piss you off.”
Colleen Hoover, Hopeless

That quote from the book really meshes with my whole vibe. I know not everybody gets a HEA, but I still hold out hope that they exist. I'm feeling some tears coming on and I'm hoping they're just from sleep deprivation. There were several quotes dealing with HEA but I didn't think you wanted to read all of them before you read the book. Read some reviews on Goodreads and see for yourself! I think it's on the NYT Bestseller list too?

Luckily I have nothing to do until tomorrow night so I should be able to get caught up on my sleep. Wichita State, my Alma mater is playing and I know it's going to be a good game. Hopefully we'll blow Ohio out of the arena!

What do you spend your nights doing when you can't sleep? Read? Pinterest? Thank Rob for that invention!

Want to follow me on Pinterest? I'm big on pinning party ideas as well as ideas for my non-existent kids and a wedding I have no groom for!

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 2

button

Even with my weekend wedding vaca I managed a loss. *shocked*

Down 1.6 lbs. Starting weight: 178.2 - Current Weight: 175.2

I don't know if I can pinpoint exactly how I lost it...because I wasn't tracking or exercising. I was conscious of what I was eating and again didn't always feel like I needed to have three square meals a day. I think that's a big thing for me.

I need to get back to exercise. I've definitely slacked the last week or two. I was doing at least arm workouts everyday, but even that's stopped. While the rest of me needs work, arms are something I can do even if I'm exhausted and I really want some killer tank top arms for summer!

How'd you do this week/weekend? The comments about snacking were good last week, but I am so sleep deprived my brain can't think of a good chaser question. I just can't wait to hear about how your week went!

Truth Tuesday: Fears

Fears, I has them...

Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.

1.) Heights -

This is a pretty common fear. One most people would think of when they talk about their fears or the fears of someone they know. I'm not really sure where this one started for me, but I know when it hit the peak.

A few years ago I took a day-trip with my parents to Daytona. No, not during racing season...have you seen how busy that place gets?! Anyways,  since we were up that way my mom thought we should visit some super old light house. Dad and I were like *shrug* sure, why not.

We get there, they have all this great history about light houses and the reflectors type schtuff. Pretty cool. When you go to a light house, people usually take the 200+ steps to the top since you're already there.

Good idea...unless you're afraid of heights, probably. I made it a little over half way before I had a legit panic attack. It's not just the height since we're enclosed and I can't see outside...it's the fact that the metal stairs have holes and the backs aren't closed in so ANY MINUTE my foot could slip right through and there I'd go, plummeting to my death!

I sat down right in the middle of whatever landing I was on, thank goodness they have them every so many steps! I told my parents to go on without me...at this time I had no idea how I would make it out alive, or even if I would make it up to see whatever it is you expect to see at the top of a light house. I eventually gave my metabolism and fear some gusto, making it to the top for about 8.3 seconds before I turned around and went as fast as I could handle down the steps of doom.

2.) Vomit -

Yeah, you probably read that and were like...WTF?! It's real. Keeps me from doing crazy things like drinking too much or hanging out with anybody that's sicko. If I was to guess when this started I was probably 4-5 years old. My sister puked on me once as a toddler and then I remember puking all over my mom's bed after having a full meal and Dilly bar from DQ. I could tell you what I ate before every single time I've thrown up. It's sad and disgusting. We also had this little girl in kindergarten that got sick at least once a day. Being a kid and all, I have no idea what she had that made her get sick everyday and my childhood memory could be exaggerating.

It's also one of the things that I fear most about having kids in the future. I can't handle being around anybody puking. *shivers* In movies I plug my ears and close my eyes because I can't even handle it there. My biggest fear about flying isn't crashing...it's what would I do if I heard/saw someone puking in a seat nearby and I couldn't escape to my happy place. *crosses fingers* this hasn't happened...yet.

This was a #raphotaday one day this month...I don't just take random pics of toilets.

If I ever feel like I *might* get sick, I have breathing exercises and prayers I chant religiously until the feeling subsides. I will lay there in agony instead of relieving myself. The correct term is Emetophobia. I has it.

3.) Creepy crawly things -

You know when you're laying in bed and you swear you felt something brush against your leg? Yeah, I JUMP out of bed, flip on the lights (if they're not already on) and flail around checking to see that there isn't anything on or near where I was.

I also can't kill any bugs or spiders without something that sprays...I'm afraid they'll crawl out from under whatever object I'm trying to squish them with! Hairspray, Lysol, Air freshener, etc. These are a must in my house.

What are some of your fears? Maybe you are afraid of kites or something?

I'm linking up with Lissette and Catalyn for #JustBecause this week.  :)

Thanks to this little list of things I'm going to be sharing Truths on days that begin with "T" with you! If you end up playing along, link me in the comments so I can check out your fears too!

My Freaking Cold Wedding Weekend

This was my big, back home weekend that I've been looking forward to! One of my close girlfriends from college got married and while the wedding was not my thing, the party afterward was awesome!

BTW, it was sooooo freaking cold in Kansas that it made me long for the “chilly” days we get in Florida, lol.

I had lunch with a friend at one of my favorite restaurants in El Do. Fancy Chinese dining for affordable prices, especially at lunch! I hadn’t been there in a couple years, because the last time I went back they were closed due to a fire or something...which means it was brand spanking new inside! Enjoy this cute little confused panda on their menu.

After lunch I stopped by my favorite LSS (Local Scrapbook Store) in a neighboring town. Instead of hanging out at Starbucks to use their wifi, I was able to enjoy my Sonic drink and get some stuff done on the interwebs...all while reminiscing and catching up with some friends!

Then I headed to meet my friend Emily for some shopping and more eating. I ate A LOT on my trip back home...there are just so many places I don’t have or get to eat at in Florida!

We woke up to a nice day, and had a few errands to run. I finally was able to get my eyebrows done at Ulta. I had forgotten to go on my Birthday when they would have been free, but I didn’t want to miss out on having my eyebrows shaped. I think they did a really nice job.

Then we headed out for the wedding, amidst flurries! But first, we had a little stop to make...

That’s right, we stopped in so I could see my grandparents. They were so surprised! Not just by me showing up, but when I turned my phone around to snap this shot they were quite giddy. Too cute and I loved getting to see them even for just a little bit.

The wedding was long. Way too many things and I felt really bad for the girls in heels that had to stand super still for about 45 minutes. Seriously, weddings don’t need to be that long, right? Now, the after party...we stayed for about three hours and it didn’t feel like we’d even been there one hour. Amazing! So much to do to keep the guests occupied. They had a photo booth, dancing, even a little line dancing! Yeehaw!

We had a little Star Wars action going on with the groom and a buddy! BTW, the groom’s cake was Star Wars themed as well. Too funny, really.

We woke up to about FOUR freaking inches of snow. *pouts*

It "snowed in" with drifts around my aunt’s house since they live on a dirt road that isn’t a priority plow, so I wasn’t able to get back to her house to get my big suitcase and I stayed an extra night with my friend that lives in the city. I’ll have to meet my aunt on my way to the airport Monday so I can get the rest of my stuff...like my glasses. Important stuff I tell you!

Since we were kinda snowed in, we were able to watch some movies and catch a little March Madness. Totally watched KU make a comeback in the second half and come out with a win! Definitely made the house I was staying with happy and it ended up being a great game. Did your team win?

All in all, it was a great weekend and even though I am not a fan of the cold or weddings, I know I’ll miss everybody when I get home.

What about you? Did you catch up on some March Madness? Did you end up with snow like we did or were you enjoying some Spring weather?

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 1

button

I was so excited to step on the scale and see a weight loss this morning!

Down 1.4 lbs since Friday (since that's when I got my scale)

I don't know about you, but with my busy weekend and having two birthdays to celebrate at work it's been difficult to indulge and still watch my calorie intake. Even with the indulgements (indulge+moments), I've just changed my eating habits at night.

1.) No more snacking. Even mid afternoon, it has to be fruit or a granola bar if I want something.

2.) Hardly any carbs after lunch, with the exception of fruit (natural sugar) or a granola bar to tame the hunger. This also means I'm not having what I would refer to as a real meal. I didn't even use a plate the last two nights since all I was having were veggies and cheese. It also helped me feel like I was still "snacking" I think, lol.

My vaca starts today, so I'll be anxious all week to get back home and on my scale to survey the damage progress.

How'd you do this week? What works for you to help keep the afternoon snack attack at arms length?

Bloglovin' Bloghop

Happy Monday,

I'm linking up with Postcards from Rachel and Northern Belle Diaries for the Bloglovin' Bloghop to help all of us stay connected since Google Reader is for sho going away and there's a strong possibility GFC could go away.

So come on over, link up with me and check out some other blogs! I'm linked up below or always on the sidebar.

I came into the fold just as GFC no longer worked on any site, EXCEPT blogs, so I never added it. Should I add GFC? Weigh in.
